Wet or dry food?

Both can be complete diets. Wet food adds water, which helps kidneys and bladder; many owners mix both. Count the calories of both together.

How fast should a cat lose weight?

Slowly: about 0.5–2% of body weight per week. Cats must never go without food; fasting can cause a dangerous liver disease.

How often should a cat eat?

Kittens 3–4 meals a day; adults 2 or more small meals. Puzzle feeders help indoor cats stay active.
